Course Description

Student checking a fashion illustration

According to Vogue, fashion illustration is in style again—as an art form and an interpretation of fashion itself. Students in this course learn to make design sketches without a model, establishing properly proportioned elongated fashion figures in a variety of poses. Working from photo references, facial features, attitude, hands, and feet will be addressed. Design ideas are communicated through quick sketches called croquis, which is then developed into presentation drawings (and, yes, fashionable artwork).
