XFSH3322 - Introduction to Costume Design

Course Description

Develop a comprehensive knowledge of the principles of Costume Design central to film, stage and theatrical production. Students will be exposed to research, process, and techniques used to create character profiles that inform design decisions and help focus design sketches and fabrication. In addition, students will develop skills in costume illustration, digital figure development, and technical flats for costume. Upon completion of this course students will have a costume design portfolio featuring a focused project related to their chosen production. This course is ideal for fashion design students and professionals looking to expand industry-relevant knowledge in costume design as well as those looking to change career paths. Access to Adobe Photoshop or an iPad with Procreate is needed for this course.
