XCAM663 - Ages 5-8 Week 3: Section 1 (Full Day)
Course Description

Rhythm & Design: Art in Motion: Ages 5-8 (Morning)
Get ready to move, make, and create in Rhythm & Design: Art in Motion! In this fun and energetic camp, young artists explore the exciting world of music, dance, and decorative arts from around the globe. Campers will make their own maracas or drums inspired by the rhythms of Latin America and Africa, craft colorful masks like those used in festivals across Africa, Asia, and Latin America, and design playful shadow puppets inspired by traditional performances from Indonesia and Turkey. Using materials like recyclables, cardboard, papier-mâché, and clay, students will bring their ideas to life through sound, movement, and storytelling. By the end of the week, campers will take home their own handmade instruments, masks, and puppets—ready to perform, play, and celebrate art in motion!
Creating Art from Nature: 3D: Ages 5-8 (Afternoon)
Explore the beauty of nature and find inspiration in everything from plants and rocks to flowers and landscapes. Using a mix of media, learn to observe, experiment, and express the wonders of the natural world through art. With a focus on three-dimensional creations, there will be opportunities to draw, paint, design, and sculpt, taking cues from a variety of artists and designers. This camp encourages curiosity and creativity, helping campers discover and create unexpected and imaginative designs inspired by nature's marvels.
