Course Description

Prop Design is a vital component of the entertainment Industry. This design field involves the creation of handheld, movable objects and items used on stage or film by actors. Props can also be wearable items or what are known as “stunt” props – vital to a character, scene, and story. This hands-on, project-based, advanced studio course explores the creative process of Prop Design. From examining a script or story, through the research and development of a design strategy, ideation, illustration, concept drawing and creative problem solving, to learning the fabrication skills needed to develop prototype models (miniatures), this course teaches what it takes to develop props that enhance any film or stage production.
