XCRF1021 - Weaving Workshop: Personal Memorabilia

Course Description

Learn the fundamentals of weaving as you create a personalized work of art.  Photos, letters, t-shirts, jeans, and other memorabilia once reserved for scrapbooks or a memory chest can be materials incorporated into a woven wall hanging.  In Week 1 you will construct a basic loom that will serve as both structure and frame for your work. Students can also bring in personal items to serve as a springboard as to what materials we would like to incorporate into our weaving.  We will also practice weaving and different techniques for incorporating these objects. In Week 2 students will incorporate personal memorabilia, different textures of yarn and cut fabric, and whatever they have brought to class into their piece. This class is ideal for anyone who has wanted to try weaving but was intimidated.  This class focuses less on the perfection of weaving and more on the potential!
