XCRF1011 - Japanese Kirigami Techniques II

Course Description

This course is designed for those interested in learning free-hand Japanese cut paper and folding techniques using scissors, Japanese origami, and washi paper. No guidelines or templates are used when cutting with scissors. Hand aerobics, scissor technology, scissor education, and gluing techniques are an integral part of the program. Students advance their skills in tearing, gluing, hand-cuts, observational cutting, and basic cuts including 8, 10, 12, 20-fold variations, completing a 2-season panel that includes Japanese characters. This workshop builds on skills and project material developed in Japanese Kirigami Techniques I.

Prerequisites: Japanese Kirigami Techniques I or comparable experience.
