Course Description

Observational painting is a fundamental skill for all painters, whether that be still life or painting a live model. Emphasis will be on seeing like a painter while developing skills in the craft of using paint. Topics include paint application, blending, paint as material, brushwork, and surface building. Students expand on the fundamentals of painting to achieve a personal direction with materials, expression, imagery, and content. They will achieve 2 - 3 paintings depending on scale materials and visual complexity.

This painting course advances skills and techniques taught in Acrylic Painting I. While the course will be taught using acrylic paint, oil painters are also welcome.

Note:

- This course does not provide certificate credit.
