Course Description

Block printing is one of the oldest types of printmaking, and is still widely practiced throughout the world. Artisans working within this rich tradition create beautiful designs in relief, and print each design element by hand, creating wonderful variation that looks beautifully handmade. Block printing is a great way to instantly personalize fabrics, stationery, and much more, to create individualized decor. In this interactive workshop, students learn the techniques of block printing through designing and carving their own simple design into a block, and then using paint to apply the carved block to fabric or paper. Instruction will include choosing a design that yields the best end result.

- Through Zoom, students will work under the guidance of instructor expertise to achieve their work in a virtual studio environment.
