Course Description

Working with clay is a tactile and creative process, bringing peace of mind and solace. This course introduces basic ceramic techniques with an emphasis on handbuilding. Handbuilding is an ancient pottery technique used to create functional forms without the use of a potter’s wheel. Students are also introduced to surface design and glazing techniques. The focus of this course will be tabletop design. No previous experience with clay is needed for this class.
 
Notes:
- Ceramic tool kits, 25 lbs of clay and all firings are included with enrollment of this 4-week course. 
- Students will also have the opportunity to participate in the annual Otis Ceramics Sale in conjunction with the Senior Fashion and Thesis shows.
- A $25 course fee is built into the tuition of this course.
- This course does not provide certificate credit.
