Course Description

In this hands-on 2 day workshop, students aged 11-13 will get an immersive experience in with typography. A brief and fun historical overview on when and how Type has been used as imagery in the 20th Century, and then a leap into experimentation through cut-out letterforms and how to make creatures and stories with letters, numbers and punctuation as our pallette. A smart phone to take photos of the process and share is necessary. For the week in between, access to Adobe Photoshop is recommended, though students without that access will still be able to create a poster with cut paper, collage and a smart camera. The 2nd class will include a demonstration on press at Otis Lab Press.

IMPORTANT:

All K-12 and Pre-College students are required to complete and return a K-12 and Precollege Mandatory Forms Packet prior to admittance into the classroom. Students will not be permitted to attend without this.
