Course Description

Taught by Veronica DeJesus (BFA, San Francisco Art Institute, MFA, UC Berkeley), whose art practice combines drawing, paper construction, and personal narratives into inventive and playful installations. Students will develop a story based on personal memories out of drawing, sculptural elements, and a pop-up book. Through demonstrations, lectures, discussion, and studio time, they will learn the techniques of paper crafts and building with 3D paper objects through making and producing their own story developed through creative paper-engineering. A topic of focus will be memories and reflection as a source for developing a personal narrative and translating that narrative into an object making process. This course is designed for learners of all levels and backgrounds.
