This 6-week class builds on skills developed in Botanical Illustration I. Students explore diverse subject matter and learn to use a scientific approach that will be incorporated into their illustrations. Students work with live plant material and, in specific cases, photography. Through lectures, demos, assignments, and weekly meetings, students achieve simple and complex forms, dissections, patterns in nature, textures and roots and accomplish a completed final graphite illustration.
Suitable for beginners, students with limited experience drawing plants start out in graphite. Students with extensive drawing experience may take part in this course with more complex subject matter using scientific and structural perspectives, and use of colored pencil or watercolor.
- Through weekly Zoom meetings, students will work under the guidance of instructor expertise to achieve their work in a virtual studio environment.
