Course Description

The portability of the sketchbook allows artists to create drawings in any location or setting. While engaging with the unique format of the sketchbook, students will use observational drawing to document their experience and transform their drawings through a unique personal vision. Using a variety of media, students gain experience with elements of drawing: perspective, line, value, color, and composition. Students can also concentrate on different subjects including the figure, architectural space, the natural landscape and many more. Expanded subject matter will also be explored, such as drawing from film and artistic reproductions and strategies for thinking creatively about subject matter will be discussed. No previous experience is required.

All K-12 and Pre-College students are required to complete and return a K-12 and Precollege Mandatory Forms Packet prior to admittance into the classroom. Students will not be permitted to attend without this.
