Course Description

Zines (pronounced zeens) are a wonderful way for teens to explore and showcase their interests. A zine is a self-published work that combines original and/or appropriated texts and images. A zine can be about anything and everything, and can take on nearly any form – as long as it can be reproduced. Historically, zines are free-form, and tend to say something about the creator/contributor(s). We will explore the history of zines, the current “zine scene,” and how to make and distribute a zine during this session. This camp would be ideal for students interested in collage and design, and those interested in learning some basics in the Adobe Creative Suite. Students can expect to publish a digital zine by the end of the workshop.
