Course Description

This course explores a particular methodology of systematic, project-based instruction that emphasizes student voice and practical, real-world applications. With this approach, students are assigned particular challenges with real-world relevance and create their own design solutions with quantifiable results. Design-based project learning is meant to infuse classroom projects with practical relevance while engaging student interest and fostering social involvement. Students acquire critical thinking and analysis skills, communication and presentation skills, organization and time management skills, research and inquiry skills, self-assessment and reflection skills, group participation and leadership skills, and entrepreneurial and community development skills.
