Course Description

Long live Letterpress! Relief printing with letterforms, both metal, and wood imparts a tactile quality to printed matter not found in any other printing method. Students are introduced to the basics of letterpress printing, including hand typesetting, typography, composition, and distribution by working on a collaborative project. Students will complete an additional project of individual design. Otis Laboratory Press is a fully functioning letterpress studio with four Vandercook proof presses and over 200 typefaces.

A $35 materials fee is built into the tuition for this course.
