Course Description

Storyboards help the designer, art director, producer, director, and client visualize a finished work. This course concentrates on translating a concept, idea, image or story into a sequenced visual format. Students develop knowledge and skills to create storyboards for advertising, feature films, television, animation, and game design. Under the guidance of instructor expertise, they develop all aspects of a concept, including characters, backgrounds, storytelling, and a final storyboard. 

- Through weekly Zoom meetings, students will work under the guidance of instructor expertise to achieve their work in a virtual studio environment.


Specific coursework required for Certificate Students, all other students should have equivalent experience.

  • Various pencils, ranging from 2HB to 5HB 
  • 4-5 pens (no particular manufacturer), from fine-to-thick
  • 3-4 gray-scale markers (no particular manufacturer; French, cool or warm), from light gray-to-dark
  • Erasers
  • High quality paper for pencils, markers or pen & ink; 8.5" x 11" 
  • iPad or tablet (if student also intends to work digitally)
  • Access to a computer, in order to create or download 'board matrices, storyboard scripts, interact with classmates, etc.

Course Requirements:

  • This course requires you to have a computer with an internet connection; camera and mic to participate in an online course setting; and ZOOM Web Conferencing App installed.
