Course Description

Train your eye to render the beauty and complexity of plants. This hands-on drawing course enables students to develop perceptual acuity, analyze the role of light on form, and use tonal value skills that are essential in drawing any subject. Suitable for beginners, students with limited experience drawing plants start out in graphite. Students with extensive drawing experience may take part in this course with more complex subject matter using scientific and structural perspectives, and use of colored pencil or watercolor. Students may advance their skills by proceeding with Botanical Illustration II.

- Please bring to first class at least five or more different types of singles leaves.  They can be collected as you walk around your neighborhood and placed in a baggie.
- Through weekly Zoom meetings, students will work under the guidance of instructor expertise to achieve their work in a virtual studio environment.
