Course Description

Develop industry-relevant digital techniques used for drawing digital flats (CAD’s) for fashion designs. Using Adobe Illustrator, students acquire technical skills using industry-standard tools and functions, digital terminology, and an understanding of workflow best practices. Techniques include producing technically accurate CADs with efficiency and consistency; creating brushes and symbol libraries; developing graphic styles; and creating a custom start file. Using Illustrator tools, students develop a set of digital flats demonstrating their understanding of technical design and construction. This course prepares students with the critical skills used by current fashion designers and design practices used in the fashion industry.

Prerequisites

Students should have working knowledge of fashion design and garment construction.
