Course Description

The art of jewelry is an age-old tradition of expressing beauty through metalwork. This hands-on course will focus on cold connection techniques, using multiple kinds of rivets and grommets as connecting materials without the need for heat, soldering or cleanup.  Following the tradition of Alexander Calder, cold connections offer freedom to play with materials to form pins, earrings, pendants or rings. Students will learn the basics of sawing, filing, finishing, jump ring creation, and age-old techniques related to connecting with rivets and grommets.  They will learn to set stones without the need for soldering. All levels are welcome.

Through weekly Zoom meetings, students will work under the guidance of instructor expertise to achieve their work from home.
