Improve your technical photography skills to allow for greater creativity in your work. Develop familiarity with different types of analog and digital cameras and lenses, learn digital editing techniques, create high-quality inkjet prints in the OTIS photography lab, and learn more advanced lighting techniques, all while continuing to develop their photographic voice. Students can choose to work in black and white film, color film, and/or digital. Medium format film cameras are introduced. Learn to scan negatives if working in film, work with RAW files if shooting digitally, and use Adobe Lightroom for managing and editing workflow. Emphasis is placed on developing both the technical and creative aspects of photography. Students are guided in developing their own individual direction and photographic concepts and complete a final project consisting of a series of high-quality inkjet prints. Class includes reading assignments, critiques, and presentations of historical and contemporary photography.
PrerequisitesSpecific coursework required for Certificate Students. All other students should have equivalent experience.
