Course Description

Instruction covers basic black/white darkroom equipment and processes. Students develop 35mm film and make black/white prints using various papers. Among the techniques demonstrated are cropping, burning and dodging, contrast control, print format, and spotting. Discussions cover film choices, darkroom safety, archival processes, and the creative aspects of black/white darkroom controls leading to enhanced personal expression. Although some basic 35mm camera experience is recommended, both beginning and advanced students who wish to learn basic darkroom skills may enroll.

Course Fee: A $35 course fee is built into the tuition of this course. 

Open Lab: An optional Open Lab is available for purchase with this course, which includes an average of six hours per week, with a maximum of 60 hours total for the 10-week term. Payable at checkout.
