Course DescriptionThis is an introduction to the soft goods area of product design. Students learn how to operate and become proficient using all the equipment in the sewing lab. The course includes learning various sewing techniques and their applications. Students experiment with different processes of dyeing, working with leather, and using recycled and unique fabrics to design and create challenging projects. This studio course focuses on developing skills and exploring materials and techniques that lead to well-executed products that include home décor, handbags, and footwear.
Prerequisite: Familiarity with basic art/design materials/tools helpful
