Course Description

Draw and paint believable and expressive portraits in your own style. In this 6-week beginning course, students learn portrait drawing and painting techniques using charcoal and acrylic and/or oils. They will create 2 finished portraits using live models and photo references. Techniques include drawing and painting the human head; value and color techniques; planar structure; and feature development; paint layering; atmospheric perspective.  While the course will be taught/demonstrated using acrylic paint, oil painters are welcome.

  • This course does not provide certificate credit.
