Course Description

Many surface design swatches, each using a different technique

In this final course of the Surface Design Techniques series, students further their knowledge of traditional techniques (including silk screen printing, mono printing and discharge “bleach cream” printing) and weaving small swatches which are scanned and digitally manipulated to create seamless continuous patterns. They create portfolio-ready artworks including 4 coordinating print designs for a wall art market collection, a screen-printed border design, and 4 weaving styles using natural materials.

All students achieve a professional quality portfolio presentation of their work developed in the Techniques series through constructive feedback, discussion, and refinement.

Note:
Surface Design Techniques  I, II, and III run concurrently with student cohorts working on unique course content under the guidance of the instructor.
