Course Description

Explore the exciting and fast-paced toy industry, and unlock your own playful ideas in this introduction to toy design. While learning basic principles of toy development, manufacturing, safety, marketing and licensing, students develop their own toy ideas. The course explores how children play and examine the history of toys. Covers the skills needed to create professional presentation drawings, and helps in preparing your portfolio. In this hands-on class, students play brainstorm, sketch, and present concepts for critique. Students select a project design from one of the following categories: dolls, action figures, electronic learning toys, plush, vehicles, and many more. Also examines career options in the toy industry.
