Course Description

Using acrylic paint and mixed media, students will work with abstract and nonrepresentational subject matter as it relates to gesture, texture, color and materiality of paint. Through exploring the powerful language of abstraction, students will draw inspiration from various painting genres--including Color Field paintings and murals of Julie Mehretu--as well as current museum exhibitions. Through lecture, demonstration, and studio time, students will develop their own paintings using acrylic paint, mediums, non-traditional materials, found surfaces, and mark-making tools.  Students of all levels are welcome.

Note:
- IMPORTANT: All K-12 and Pre-College students are required to complete and return a K-12 and Pre-College Mandatory Forms Packet prior to admittance into the classroom. Students will not be permitted to attend without this.
