XCAM1049 - Abstract in 2D and 3D: Ages 13-14
Course Description
Explore the genre of abstraction as a form of self-expression in both two-dimensional and three-dimensional art making. Design and construct art works through understanding basic art elements of design (line, color, shape, form, value, space, and texture), principles of design (emphasis, balance, contrast, repetition, pattern proportion, movement, variety, and harmony), and exploring a wide range of techniques including drawing, painting, collage, and photography. Then transform your concepts into three-dimensional art through construction techniques (both subtractive and additive) using a wide range of materials such as found objects, textiles, fabric, papier mâché, wire and clay. Through class critique, demonstration, and collaboration, build your visual vocabulary in order to understand and interpret abstract imagery. Throughout this course students are introduced to artists who use abstraction in their work, art techniques, styles, and movements. Discover how to express ideas, embrace a sense of curiosity, think critically, and create artwork that is uniquely your own.

Materials Fee: Courses include a $40 course materials fee unless a materials list is provided. Students are required to have all materials on the first day of class, unless otherwise indicated.

Extended Care: Summer Camps offers Before & After Care for an additional fee of $50 per time slot. Before Care is available from 7:30-9:00 a.m. and After Care is available from 4:15-6:00 p.m. Please select the appropriate box at checkout.

Lunch Supervision Fee: A $75 lunch supervision fee is required for all courses meeting 9:00am-4:15pm and is included in the cost of tuition.
IMPORTANT:
- All K-12 and Pre-College students are required to complete and return a K-12 and Precollege Mandatory Forms Packet prior to admittance into the classroom. Students will not be permitted to attend without this.
