Course Description

The Fashion Industry is on the brink of a new era. Among many exciting advancements, sustainable fashion is a necessary guiding principle for future fashion designers. This course provides students with a foundation of essential knowledge, skills, and confidence to become a fashion designer prepared for the future of this industry. With inspiration from fashion history, they will construct and present an outfit for a collection. Topics include eco-friendly textiles and dyes, zero waste, patternmaking, deconstructing / upcycling garments, sewing, draping, elements of design, merchandising, while designing a cohesive responsible collection. This course may include a visit from an Otis College Admissions Counselor.

Note:

- IMPORTANT: All K-12 and Pre-College students are required to complete and return a K-12 and Precollege Mandatory Forms Packet prior to admittance into the classroom. Students will not be permitted to attend without this.
