Course Description

Learn to create believable, compelling characters for film, TV, and games. This precollege course emphasizes developing characters with personality while expressing the individual style of the artist. Utilizing industry-standard character design techniques, students gain practice with drawing skills; elements and principles of design; visual and narrative storytelling; and the tools, techniques, and best practices of character design. Students will also learn the basic building blocks of story structure as they pertain to character design and character arcs.

This is the ideal course for high school-aged youth who wish to learn the fundamentals of character design relevant to animation, concept illustration, storyboarding, and the creation of original stories.

IMPORTANT: All students enrolled in Youth and Pre-College Courses must submit the following packet of Youth and Precollege Mandatory Forms prior to admittance into the classroom. Students will not be permitted to attend without this.
