Course Description

The Summer of Art Arts Immersion Program is designed to introduce international students to the unique art, culture, and history of one of the world’s greatest art centers—Los Angeles. From the hand-painted murals of Boyle Height's Latinx community to the genre-shifting architecture of Frank Lloyd Wright, the Hollywood kitsch of Madame Tussaud's Wax Museum to the outsider art masterpiece that is Watts Towers—students will be immersed within and have the opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of Los Angeles's richly diverse creative landscape. This program includes visits to historical and culturally significant sites, interactions with local artists and artisans, and the opportunity to participate in both group discussion and self-reflection. (This course is only open to international Summer of Art students.)
