Course Description

Printmaking involves creating original works of art that exist as multiples, or editions. In this class, we will focus on an exception to that rule: monoprinting, a method in which an artist uses printmaking techniques to make similar, but not identical, prints. We will create rich, painterly, multi-layered prints in this workshop. While creating one-of-a-kind pieces, students will develop their knowledge of color and texture, and learn about the process of image development. Students who participate in this course will gain an understanding of the fundamentals of printmaking, and will analyze and interpret works of art, while exploring creative possibilities through monotype.
