Course Description

Discover how to depict 3-D objects on 2-D surfaces using an artistic medium dating back to the 15th century. In this hands-on course, students will acquire basic knowledge of oil paint components, surface preparations, preservation, safety rules, color, and tonal theory. Students will learn oil painting techniques such as Grisaille, Impasto, and Glazing (Washes) and will be introduced to various painting styles, including Classical, Impressionism, and Abstract. Special training methods of color and proportion sensitivity are included in this course.
