Course Description

Dig deeper into everything you know about ceramics. This course is designed for students with previous clay experience who want to expand their knowledge and skills in creating glazes using raw materials, plaster mold making, wheel throwing, slab construction, and hand building. Extension and BFA students are encouraged to create their own body of work. The final assignment is related to the Otis College Spring Ceramic Exhibition, which has been extremely successful and historically significant. Under the expertise of Otis College of Art and Design Professor Joan Takayama-Ogawa, students develop their practice from home with weekly Zoom meetings. Firing provided on campus.

  • Open lab hours will not be available for the spring semester due to COVID-19 campus safety measures.  Firing provided with health and safety measures.

  •  Stay at Home Clay Kits and 50 lbs of clay included with enrollment of this 15-week course.
