Course Description

Whether your interest is in producing animated interactive media for the web or you’re all about print production, you need to start with the basics and become familiar with the digital tools of the trade. This hands-on course introduces students to various digital graphics software applications that are the industry standard for design professionals in areas of motion graphics and web design—Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Animate, and Adobe Dreamweaver.

Notes:

- Through weekly Zoom meetings, students will work under the guidance of instructor expertise to achieve their work in a virtual studio environment.

- Prerequisite:  Basic computer knowledge

Course Requirements:

  • This course requires you to have a computer with an internet connection; camera and mic to participate in an online course setting; ZOOM Web Conferencing App and Adobe Creative Cloud installed. 

  • As an Otis Extension student, you are eligible for select software discounts which can be found online under the software company’s education section of its website. 

  • Educational license is available here

  • Hardware Requirements: Laptop and/or Desktop Computer (Mac or PC – User’s Choice)

  • 2 screens:

    • Screen 1: (e.g. tablet device/iPad, laptop, desktop, or primary computer monitor) will  be used to watch the instructional demonstrations and class lectures. 

    • Screen 2: (e.g. secondary computer monitor, desktop / laptop computer) will be  dedicated to using the Adobe Creative Cloud applications.

Instructor Notes:

  • If using two separate computers, students should log each computer into the online classroom.
  • IMPORTANT: Both computers should have working audio with built-in web camera and microphone – external web cameras and USB microphone headsets are also an option. Only one computer needs to have its microphone and audio speakers enabled at any  given time. The other computer should be on mute.

  • This course includes 30 hours of class time plus at least 15 hours of homework time.

  • Course teaching method: Synchronous                                                   

  • Synchronous: Taught through an online learning environment, allowing for the instructor and students to meet during scheduled times. Includes lectures, demos and discussions via Zoom.
